New Auditions, New Website Features, and Boobs?
Its been a busy few days in the TAC Skunk Works. We have more than 85 users on the website to date, but only about 35 auditions online, so you get the sense for the backlog that we are fighting through! We had four new auditions go online last night and one already this morning that is processing at Revver.com.
While Brad and I were hard at work uploading and reviewing audition videos, our super-coder Adam finished up a new sidebar gadget that shows the top 10 highest voted auditions and their scores. We debated having this on the sidebar, but in the end we felt it added a new dimension to the voting process.
The sidebar is displayed on every page of the website - including audition video pages. If you can get your audition in the top 10, it will instantly raise your profile across the entire website.

Yesterday the show had another first. We had an audition video that was a direct response to another audition video.
Monica Durazo submitted an audition video that went straight up to #2 on the charts in less than a day. Part of her instant success might have been her “attention getting” strategy that is apparently working very well.
Her audition video went live on the site early yesterday and about 10 hours later we received an audition video from Steph Perez.
In what could be considered a direct response to Monica’s strategy, Steph explains that she “could show some boobs … but instead you will just see me.”
One of the biggest things you can do with your audition video is make it stand out and these two women have used some great techniques that will get both of their videos viewed more frequently.
What are you planning to do to capture the viewer’s attention in your audition video? Research shows that you have less than 4 seconds to capture the viewer’s attention in an online video. If you fail to capture the viewer’s attention, chances are they will simply keep on moving.
In your audition it is safe to say that the longer the viewer watches your audition video, the better they will vote it. What do you think of these women’s strategies? How do you vote the content (i.e. the message) of their videos?
I prefer Steph’s approach, content over…
other things.
I just proves that “Boobs” doesn’t matter….content
